2019

Hello 2019.
A quarter of the year is gone...so much changed that I feel the need to catch up right here.
Levi is in his last year of primary school. He has some big decisions as to where to do his high schooling. There are many factors to consider and I can see the weight of it is heavy for him but ultimately nothing is irrevocable. That aside - 2019 looks great for him. Two big sports tours including the long awaited first team rugby tour to Durban. He has been waiting many years for this opportunity. He is also putting his best foot forward to make prefect - at his school they only choose the final 24 at the end of Term 2...so far he has made the 48 so is on track to reach his goal. He has had a substantial growth spurt and is now the tallest in our family. That's a thing!
Faith is putting her head down and getting through Grade 9. School is a chore and not a pleasure but she does what is necessary and excels despite her lack lustre attitude. She has a good group of friends and is pretty settled albeit moody....which I believe is standard for most 15 year old girls!
Rach is in matric. Damn. And has a serious boyfriend. Damn. A whole new world of parental navigation for me but so far so good. Varsity applications have gone out but many more options still up in the air. She is going to study intermediate phase teaching which is what she has always wanted to do; her tutoring skills prove that this is where both her strength and passion lie.
Kev and his crew have found a great place close to schools and his office. The move away from here has saved him at least 20 hours a week in travel time. His kids are able to get to and from school/friends/malls with ease and their lives are infinitely better. Initially the move seemed quite negative but I could clearly see how much value it would add to all our lives. The house seems very empty now but I do feel more able to breathe and a weight of responsibility has been removed from my shoulders. The last few months of co-habiting were not easy on any of us.I did a month stint in film production as a PA - an incredible opportunity made available to me by a friend who has been a producer for 20 years. The time was incredibly demanding but I just loved every moment of it and I do look forward to doing more contracts when the filming season starts again later this year.
